Learning Cantonese: 學廣東話
- Elementary Cantonese, Volumes 1 & 2 by Sidney Lau
- Intermediate Cantonese, Volumes 1 & 2 by Sidney Lau
- Advanced Cantonese, Volumes 1 & 2 by Sidney Lau
- A Practical Cantonese-English Dictionary by Sidney Lau (實用粵英詞典-劉錫詳編著)
- Sidney Lau Romanisation (劉錫詳拼音)
- Cantonese Lessons in London and more resources.
The most comprehensive books are the ones written by Sidney Lau. There are a total of 6 thick books in this series: Although they are a bit dated (1970's), the grammatical explanations are very thorough and clear with a lot of dialogues and drills for practice. All Cantonese text is given in both romanization and Chinese characters (indispensable when getting help from a native speaker). They are widely available in bookstores in Hong Kong but maybe difficult to locate elsewhere.
If you are having difficulty getting hold of these books, let me know and I may be able to source them for you in HK and ship them out to you.
